Description of Service

This service provides People Leaders with support for hiring and onboarding new employees for their unit for a non-casual employee in the following employee groups: ASPA, CUPE 1975, CUPE 3287, Exempt, Senior Administration, USFA and Non-Union.

This service includes:

  • Implementing contracts and letters of offer, including compensation.
  • Providing onboarding support for new employees.
    • Generate NSID for new employees.
    • Send out welcome email with link to the New Employee website where they will find information about Saskatoon, the university, forms required (e.g. tax and direct deposit), parking, etc.
    • Send invite to benefit session and provide benefit package to new employees and employees whose benefits have changed.
    • Coordinate the set-up of professional development funds (where applicable).
    • Email hiring manager with a link to the Onboarding Toolkit and Onboarding Checklist Knowledge Base articles.

Access

Once a candidate has been selected for a job posting, People Leaders should use one of the Create a Letter of Offer eForms below (login required) to initiate the hiring and onboarding of new employees in ASPA, CUPE 1975, Exempt, CUPE 3287, PSAC, Research and Non-union positions.

Service Standards

  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs) have been added to select ConnectionPoint eForms. Processing start dates for eForms are available in the ConnectionPoint channel in PAWS.

Service Exclusions, Limitations, and Restrictions

  • Provide as much notice as possible to allow for onboarding activities to be completed and to alleviate improper pay for the employee’s first pay period.
  • The Create Letter of Offer eforms are for both Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and non-ATS requisitions.
  • ConnectionPoint supports hires for non-casual ASPA, CUPE 1975, CUPE 3287, Exempt, Senior Administration, USFA and non-union positions. For all other hires, contact your HR SBA for assistance.
  • Faculty recruitment is handled by the Office of the Vice-Provost, Faculty Relations.

Service Charges

  • There are no service charges associated with using hiring and onboarding support.
