Email and Calendar
- Service available to: Faculty, Staff, Students, Researchers, Retirees, Alumni
- Themes: Collaboration, Communication
- Service Category: Communication and Collaboration
- Service Areas: Email and Calendaring, Communication and Conferencing
Description of Service
This service provides faculty, staff, researchers, and students with the ability to send and receive email in support of their academic and administrative activities from a university-branded email account. It also provides the ability to organize meetings, appointments, and tasks, through individual and departmental calendars.
The service provides:
- Email accounts, including the ability to create an easier-to-remember, name-based address (known as an alias).
- Message filtering to remove viruses and to reduce the large volume of unsolicited mail (spam/junk mail).
- Calendars to schedule meetings and manage tasks.
- Mailing lists to help send email messages to groups of people or subscribers simultaneously.
This service allows employees to share access to their email inbox or delegate permissions for email with others. Sharing the inbox allows another person to read, create, edit, or delete items depending on the permissions given. Delegating permissions allows another person to send emails, book meetings, or reply to meeting invitations. It is also possible to share access to only the calendar.
