Description of Service
This service provides faculty, staff, and other members of the university community with the keys and support they need to access buildings, offices, and other spaces at the university.
Buildings are normally unlocked at approximately 7:00 am, Monday–Friday, and most buildings are locked at 11:00p.m., with some buildings being locked at 6:00 pm. On weekends, most main building doors are unlocked between 7:00 am and 8:00 am and locked between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm., with some buildings being locked at 6:00 pm.
Most building will be closed on statutory holidays. A building will be scheduled to be unlocked if prior arrangements are made with Facilities and Protective Services, such as when an event is scheduled for that day.

Access
People can report building and door access issues (e.g. door won’t lock/unlock) using the following methods:

For all other key-related requests, faculty and staff should contact their department key custodian, including but not limited to:
- Lost keys.
- Returning or issuing new keys (e.g. as a result of an office move or job change).
- Keys for new employees.

Service Standards
- New key requests may take 3-5 business days to complete.
Service Exclusions, Limitations, and Restrictions
- All keys, cards, and FOBs are assigned to an employee or to a department keyboard, and must be returned to their key custodian when they are no longer needed.
- Keys, cards and FOBs assigned to an employee cannot be traded or transferred.
- Each department has a designated contact called a key custodian for submitting key requests. If you do not know who your departmental key custodian is, you can find out who your key custodian is in the knowledge base (login required).
- USask Health Sciences has its own Key and Access Card Request/Cancellation Form.
- Duplication of keys is prohibited. Additional key request must be requested through their departmental key custodian.
Service Charges
- There are generally no service charges for initial key and fob requests. There may be charges for duplicate and replacement keys and fobs or for locksmith services when keys or key cards are lost or misplaced or otherwise compromised through customer negligence. The customer will be responsible for the cost of re-keying locks or issuing new key cards in such instances.
