Description of Service
This service provides all faculty, staff, and researchers with support for international shipping and receiving for goods needed to deliver on their teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.
This service includes providing access to the university’s customs broker for international shipping and receiving, including support with:
- Clearing customs shipments.
- Preparing customs documentation.
- Paying duties and taxes on behalf of the university.

Faculty, staff, and researchers can contact ConnectionPoint using the following methods:

Service Standards
Customs brokerage for goods being transported by surface vehicles have mandatory notification times.
Service Exclusions, Limitations, and Restrictions
- Receiving from international locations must use the university’s contracted customs broker when clearing customs.
- The shipping and receiving of dangerous or controlled goods is regulated.
- Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act – Contact safetyresources@usask.ca
- Federal Controlled goods program (Designated Official) – Contact Protective Services
Service Charges
- Costs for shipping and brokerage are paid for by the department.
- Failure to follow proper import/export processes could result in fines to individuals and the university, and delays to the receipt of your shipment.
